Team,

If you are not playing a winter sport or are not working out at One Eighty Sports Performance on Tuesdays and Thursdays, your attendance is needed for preseason conditioning with Coach Young.

A few important details:

* Conditioning starts at 4:00pm until 5:30 and will run most Tuesdays and Thursdays that school is in session up until the start of the season

* Players wishing to stay after school until conditioning starts must go to Coach Zona's room (1.572) IMMEDIATELY after school - NO EXCEPTIONS- make this time useful and get you homework done - you will not be allowed to disrupt others trying to get work done.

* Starting at 3:45, players can get changed and be ready for conditioning when Coach Young gets there at 4:00pm.  Coach Young will meet you in Coach Zona's room unless he says otherwise.

* Please have a ride home ready at 5:30 if needed

This preseason conditioning program is critical to our program:

- it helps prevent injuries early in the season

- it prepares us for games early in the season

- it allows players to get together and hang out and bond as a team

If you have any problems or questions, please contact Coach Branche at director@mountainviewlacrosse.com

Thanks!

MVHS Lacrosse Preseason Conditioning

Preseason conditioning is vitally important to our program.  Why?

1. It PREVENTS injuries - coming into the season in shape not only reduces your chances of injury early on in the season, the more athletic you are, the less chance you will have of becoming injured throughout the season.

2. Winning and losing can, and has, come down to the degree of athleticism of the teams involved.  Last year I can think of 3 games that we lost - not because we didn't have the stick skills, but because the other team had better athletes.  I keep telling everyone that the "Lax Bro" mentality kills the sport because too many players think that having good stick skills is enough and compensates for not being athletic.  WRONG!

That being said, we have two options available to you:

1. One Eighty Sports Performance - registration ends soon and training starts next week!  Coach Milk came to our general meeting and talked about what his program does for athletes, and having spent time in his facility and having seen how few injuries that Georgia Swarm had during their championship season last year, he's got a proven track record of success.  I know that not everyone can afford his program, but if we can get enough players involved, the price will drop, and this will be your best option for intense preseason conditioning this year.  His facility is about 15 minutes from MVHS in Hoschton.  His flyer is attached HERE.

2.  Coach Young will be offering preseason conditioning on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday November 14th from 3:45 to 5:00 right up until the season starts (except when school is not in session).  Training will be done at the high school and we will work on a way for players to stay after school somewhere and study until its time for conditioning.  If you are not playing a winter sport, you are expected to be there!  If you take advantage of One Eighty's program during that time, we just need to know so Coach Milk can keep us in the loop on your attendance and progress.  We will also try to provide workouts for you to follow in off-days.

Commit to doing one or both of these options.  I can promise that if you put the work in now, you will see rewards during our regular season!

If you have any questions, just let me know.  Thanks!

-Coach Branche - Director, MVHS Boys Lacrosse

Players and Parents,

  • Print out PDF's and put them up wherever you can!  The PDF can be downloaded HERE
  • Players need to share this information on social media as well!

Date:  THIS SATURDAY Sept 23rd
TIme: 2pm - 6pm

Please come wearing Mtn View gear and help us sell tickets to raise money for our program!  We had a lot of fund doing it last year, AND EVERYONE IS EXPECTED TO COME AND HELP SELL!

I hope everyone is doing well!  We're well underway with our truck raffle but we need to keep selling!

1. Sell tickets online through email, FaceBook, Twitter, etc!

  • The link to buy tickets is here:  http://www.mtnviewbaseball.org/jeep-raffle
  • When tickets are bought online, make sure they put your name (or your son's name) in the corresponding field AND that they make sure they enter Boys Lacrosse for the team they are supporting!
  • Tickets that are bought online will be mailed directly to the person who bought them.

2. We need players' help next Saturday 9/30!  We need every player to be there!

  • The truck will be parked at Kroger in Dacula from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday the 30th.  Players are needed to be there to help sell tickets during that time.  It was actually a lot of fun last year and we need everyone's participation, so plan on carving out time to be there!

Other News:

Sponsorship Forms - another good way to help raise money is to go out and ask local businesses to for sponsorships.  So please get the courage to ask local businesses that you visit if they would be willing to sponsor our team - it doesn't hurt to ask!  We have it all laid out for you to give to a business.  The form can be downloaded and printed out HERE....  If a business wants our tax information to show their sponsorship is tax deductible, they can go to www.mountainviewlacrosse.com and click on the Documents and Spirt Wear link to get our tax exempt certificate.

MVHS Mens Lacrosse Newsletter 9/6/17

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend our general meeting last Thursday!  Just a quick recap:

  • Tim Ross was elected as the new Board President
  • Kevin Hysler was elected the new Freshman Grade Chair
  • Keeping updated on events (especially fundraising and team get togethers) is crucial - make sure you are getting and reading our emails to stay in touch with all that we have going on!
  • If you did not attend the meeting, please let Coach Branche know ASAP so we can get a good gauge of who will be playing next season.  He can be reached at director@mountainviewlacrosse.com
  • Truck Raffle
    • If you have not picked up your tickets to sell, please go to Coach Zona's room
    • Sell tickets online via social media and email!  Here's the link:  http://www.mtnviewbaseball.org/jeep-raffle
    • When selling online, IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT PEOPLE BUYING TICKETS:
      • INDICATE THE PLAYER THEY ARE SUPPORTING
      • INDICATE THEY ARE SUPPORTING MENS LACROSSE
      • Failure to do that online will result in us not getting credit for the sale and therefore not getting our share of the sale of the ticket!
    • We need everyone to sell 20 tickets at $20 each.
    • We will be scheduling a date to meet at Kroger in Dacula to help sell more tickets.
  • Clemson/UGA Game! - we will be hosting this game on Sunday October 8th - we will need a lot of volunteers to help pull this off and make it a fun family event.  We plan on having some games for kids to play and some other activities to help draw in as many people in our community as possible to make this a success.  We are looking for a sponsor for the game and plan on charging $5 per person for admission.  Gates open at noon.  Game is as 1pm.
  • Offseason conditioning - Coach Loudermilk of OneEighty Sports Performance gave a quick presentation - anyone who is capable of committing to his program is highly encouraged to do so.  For more information, he can be contacted at coachmilk56@gmail.com

We will be scheduling all of our fundraisers for this fall and winter shortly - stay tuned for dates and plans for these fundraisers.

As always, if you have any problems or questions, please email Coach Branche, MVHS Mens Lacrosse Directory at director@mountainviewlacrosse.com

Thanks!

MVHS Boys Lacrossse General Meeting Scheduled for Thursday August 31st from 7:00pm to 8:00pm in the MVHS Library - this is a very important meeting, so we need EVERYONE to attend and we promise to keep it within an hour.  Here's what we need to accomplish in this meeting:

  • Vote for a new Board President - candidates will have a few minutes to talk before we do a blind vote (one vote per household and you must be present to vote)
  • We need everyone there so we can see how many people are interested in playing so we can plan/budget accordingly.
  • Overview of what we need to accomplish as a program this fall and winter

***If you can't attend, please email Paul Branche - MVHS Mens Director of Lacrosse at director@mountainviewlacrosse.com***  You won't be able to vote this way, but we will know you or your son plan on playing lacrosse next season.

We are searching for a new Board President - are you interested?  We will elect a new Board President in this meeting.  If you are interested or have questions, please feel free to contact Paul Branche - Director of Lacrosse, at director@mountainviewlacrosse.com.

Current Board President Candidates:
De'Trese Bowen
Tim Ross

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who might not be receiving it and have them email me at director@mountainviewlacrosse.com to be added to our list.  I know we are missing contact information for the upcoming freshmen and their parents from the Mill Creek cluster, so if anyone can pass this along to them, or anyone else that might be interested, it would be greatly appreciated.  Right now, its very important to know about how many wish to play this year so we can plan our budget and resources accordingly, so its very important that anyone who has interest gets our communications and comes to the meeting on the 31st!

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you there!

I hope everyone has gotten off to a good start to the school year!  I can't wait to see what this brings for us as a program and what we can accomplish if we work hard this offseason!
